Nick Kucik, 344 Patt Dr., Farrell, passed away peacefully of natural causes at 7:30 p.m., Sunday (8/14/11) at his residence with his family at his side. He was 84.
Mr. Kucik was born April 24, 1927 in Slickville, PA the son of Michael and Helen Metza Kucik.
He was a graduate of Slickville schools.
He retired in 1975 from the former Sharon Steel Corporation where he worked as a shipper in their Farrell finishing department. Previously he was employed at the General American Transportation Corp., Masury.
He was a member of St. Adalbert Church, Farrell. He enjoyed gardening and his favorite pastime was simply sitting on his front porch enjoying the weather.
A decorated veteran of WWII, Nick served with the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged January 10, 1947 with the APTO Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal, and the WW II Victory Medal. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 432, Wheatland, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5286, Farrell.
His wife the former Sophie Korab, whom he married June 19, 1948 in St. Adalbert Church, survives at home.
He also leaves his two sons, Nicholas J. Kucik and his wife Andrea and Greg Kucik, all Farrell; four grandchildren, Melissa Cannone and husband Jerry, Farrell, Brian Kucik, Farrell, Chris Kucik, Farrell and Vanessa Jackson and her husband Correy, five great-grandchildren, Mario and Michael Cannone and Chayse, Ayden and Dallus Kucik. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, John, Mike, Steve, Pete, Alex and a twin brother George, and two sisters, Ann Yaczola and Helen Shafer.

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery, Hermitage, with full military honors rendered by the West Middlesex and Farrell VFW, and the Wheatland American Legion Honor Guard.
