Nicholas Kolbrich, Sr., 89, of Sharon, passed away on Sunday morning, January 11, 2026, in The Lakes at Jefferson.
Mr. Kolbrich was born on November 2, 1936, in Farrell, a son of the late Emerich and Susan (Marenchin) Kolbrich. He was a 1955 graduate of Hickory High School.
Nick was a longtime employee of Sharon Steel’s former Farrell plant. He worked in the box annealing department until its closure in 1991. He then worked at Stambaugh Thompson, Hermitage, and retired upon the store’s closure.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, with a passion for catching trout. Earlier in his life, Nick bowled in leagues at Thorton Hall and the former Hickory Bowl.
His wife, the former Carmella Bruno, whom he married on February 24, 1996, passed away on February 7, 2015.
He is survived by two sons, Nicholas (Sharyn) Kolbrich, Jr., of Sharpsville, and Kevin Kolbrich, of Jefferson Twp.; four stepchildren, Lucie, Michelina, Lisa and Frank; six grandchildren, Emerich, Bradley, Benjamin, Katie, Nichol and Gregory; and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two siblings, Mary Anna Wallace, of Sharon, and Charles Kolbrich, of Erie, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Nick was preceded in death by his former wife and mother to his children, Georgia Syslo; a son, Gregory Kolbrich; and three brothers, Robert, John and Norman Kolbrich.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Mercer County Food Bank, 109 S. Sharpsville Ave., Suite A, Sharon, PA 16146.
A graveside service will be held privately.
Interment: St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Hermitage.
