Naomi C. Whisel, 82, of New Castle passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, August 26, 2018, in UPMC Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Mrs. Whisel was born April 26, 1936, in East Providence Twp., PA, a daughter of the late Dewey and Marie (Williams) Jay. She was raised in Everett and attended Everett Area High School.

A homemaker, Naomi dedicated her life to caring for her family and their home.

She was a member of New Hope Family Worship Center, Union Twp.

Naomi enjoyed gardening and crocheting. She cherished the time she was able to spend with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her husband, Donald E. Whisel, whom she married July 5, 1952, preceded her in death January 2, 2014.

Surviving are: two daughters, Debra (A.J.) Lloyd, Fort Myers, FL, and Melody (Anthony) Cujas, Ford City, PA; four sons, William (Sherry) Whisel, New Castle, Thomas Whisel, Chicora, Donald (Ruth) Whisel, Eastbrook, and Timothy (Kyong) Whisel, North Pole, AK; a sister, Arlen Felton, Everett, PA; a brother Eugene Jay, Hermitage; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Naomi was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lisa Whisel; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Whisel; two brothers; and an infant sister.

Calling hours will be 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday (8-29-18) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.

Funeral service will be noon Wednesday, in the funeral home, with Pastor Chris Kaufmann and Rev. William Whisel, pastor of New Hope Family Worship Center, officiating.

Interment: Unity Baptist Cemetery, Harlansburg.
