Nanette Lee Laslow of 988 Haig St., Sharon, passed away unexpectedly at 10:47 a.m. Sunday (3-6-11) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 61.
Miss Laslow was born April 12, 1949, in Sharon, the only child of Albert Eugene 'Chief' Laslow and Helyn Matias Laslow.
She was a 1967 alumna of Sharon High School, attended Westminster College, New Wilmington, and received her bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University.
Nan was employed for the past year in the admissions department of Sharon Regional Health System. She previously worked as a file clerk for Preston Ford in Sharon for nine years. She was a member of Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon.
Nan was an exceptional artist. Her beautiful paintings are in oil, water, acrylic and pencil and most often had an outdoor theme with horses. She also made stained glass; many of her works can be found in the Tiffany-style lamp shades that adorn her home. Although painting was a hobby, she was passionate about horses.
Nan raised, trained and showed Arabian horses throughout the country. She was most proud of her Arabian horse, Lidell, who was the recipient of the prestigious National Reserve Champion Park Horse award. Nan is a member of many professional horse organizations, including the Pennsylvania Arabian Horse Association.
She is survived by her mother, at home. Nan also leaves aunts and uncles, several nieces and nephews and her many friends in the horse community.
Her father passed away March 9, 2002.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Pennsylvania Arabian Horse Association in care of Wayne Gavitt, 5703 Route 87, Forksville, PA 18616.
