IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nancy A.
Stickel
January 28, 1929 – April 11, 2024
Nancy A. (DiLorenzo) Stickel, beloved child of God passed away at her home in Princeton, on April 11, 2024. Born on January 28, 1929, at home, the youngest child of the late Anthony DiLorenzo and Anna (Seipi) Carungi DiLorenzo. She married Everett R. "Sam" Stickel on June 19, 1948. He preceded her in death in 2015, after 66 years of marriage.
Living on Croton before her marriage; she graduated in the January 1947 class of New Castle High School. After her marriage, she resided in Princeton, PA.
Her early working years were spent briefly during WWII as a housekeeper at Jameson Hospital, a decorator at Shenango Pottery and finally a waitress at Isaly's where she met Sam in his Army uniform. After they married, she worked two years at Kresge's (K-Mart) and two years at Golden Hills Nursing Home (Quality Life Services).
Nancy became interested in genealogy research after the death of her son, John. She was very adept at searching through history and locating members of the Stickel family tree; known as the Stickel Family Historian. She enjoyed the "hunt" researching for others and not always at their request. It was presented by her as a gift. Chris, at the New Castle Public Library, she called her partner in crime, was on her "speed dial."
An avid reader, she preferred historical or Christian fiction and was an eager lender and or borrower of any books she found interesting. After January 6, 2020, her reading shifted to non-fiction, American History past and present as well as reading to try to understand QAnon, The Patriots, etc., and anything on current world events and their history. She would laugh and say January 6th shocked me into the present day. "Love America or leave it" was her motto.
Her Bible was read every morning and every night as well as cover to cover every year since the 1970s. Additionally, her days began and ended in prayer, "Pray for America" was a daily mantra.
Nancy is survived by 2 of her four children, Susan Arnett, and Samuel David Stickel (Roseanne); and preceded in death by her two youngest children, John S. Stickel, and Catherine A. Rowe-Einsporn (Tom). Also surviving are seven of her nine grandchildren, Jennifer Arnett (Ed Cracraft), Rachael Lombardo (Leonard), Erica Stickel, Samuel J. Stickel, Nancy A. Stickel, Michael J. Stickel and Stephan Rowe (Melissa); preceded in death by two grandchildren, Matthew Rowe and Kathleen Arnett. Additionally, surviving are five great-grandchildren.
The last of her generation in both Stickel and DiLorenzo families, she was preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses: Andrew DeLorenzo (Lucille), Louis DiLorenzo (Mary), Mary Servedio (Sam), and Adam Carungi (Christina); her nephew, Anthony Servedio; her great-nephew, Mark DeLorenzo; and tow brothers lost in WWII, Nick DiLorenzo and James Carungi-DiLorenzo.
Nancy was a beloved member of Princeton E.P. Church and previously a member of New Covenant E.P. Church.
Per Nancy's request there is no public viewing and a private graveside service will be held. In lieu of visitation, she requested that everyone "Read your Bible" "Vote" and "Pray for America"
The family suggests memorial contributions be sent in her name to the New Castle Public Library, 207 E North St., New Castle, PA 16101; or Princeton E. P. Church, 3012 Church Rd., New Castle, PA 16101.
