Obituary

?Nancy L. (Kahl) Sed, of Hermitage, passed away unexpectedly at 12:07 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a short illness.  She was 73.

Nancy was born April 14, 1945, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Joseph F. and Marie M. (Mussler) Kahl.  She attended the former St. Joseph Parochial Grade School and was a 1963 alumna of Sharon High School where she was a cheerleader and the squads captain her senior year.

Following her graduation, Nancy was employed for six years at the former Golden Dawn Foods in its retail accounting department; and later as a bookkeeper at the Routman, Moore, Goldstone and Valentino law firm for twenty-two years.  Up until her passing, she worked at UPMC Horizon for eighteen years, most recently in the medical records department.

Nancy was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon.  During her life, Nancy was involved in many professional groups and volunteered her time for many organizations.  She was a vice-president for the St. Joseph School PTO and served on its school board.  She was also a notary public for more than 26 years and treasurer of the Mercer County Legal Secretaries.  While at UPMC, Nancy served on the board of the Employee Contributions Fund.

Nancy devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and extended family.  She loved spending time with her family and friends shopping, traveling and experiencing new things.  She thoroughly enjoyed taking her grandchildren to Kraynak's, Daffin's and Buhl Park every time they visited.  She treasured the time she spent with her siblings and her many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.  Nancy lived her life working hard for everything she had, focusing on the positive in life, even when times were tough, and trying to help as many people as she could along the way.  She believed that her faith would always help her solve problems and provide her with the love, joy and happiness to fulfill her life.  One of Nancy's favorite sayings was "Let Go and Let God."

She was a great listener and believed that one of the greatest qualities a person could have was listening to others.  What Nancy did with her life was provide us all with so much love; hope that there are always better days ahead; peace in making hard decisions and following through with those decisions; and pure joy in knowing that life is worth living.  Nancy will be truly missed and never forgotten.

She is survived by her three children, Gregory J. Mudrey (Eileen) and Scott J. Mudrey (Melissa), all of Fort Mill, SC; and Amy M. Wertz, of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren, Abby Wertz, Ian Mudrey, Joseph Wertz and Alexa Grey; three sisters, Mary Ann Groutt (David), of Freedom, PA; and twins, Jean Winger (James), of Warren, OH; and Joan Fischer (Edward), of Macedonia, OH; a brother, Joseph Kahl (Judy), of Mars, PA; and several loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Allan Wertz.
