Nancy L. McGaffic, Hillcrest Ave., New Castle, passed away unexpectedly at 8:05 a.m. on Saturday (2-26-11) in the Brookville Hospital Emergency Room after a short illness. She was 69.
Nancy was born in New Castle on January 16, 1942 the daughter of Orloff D. and Garnet W. Linton Hoover.
She graduated from New Castle High School and later studied nursing.
She was employed as a hostess at the Meadows off track racing center in New Castle for 15 years and retired in 2004.
An art dealer at one time, she owned and operated her own art gallery in Columbus, Ohio.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved shopping and simply spending time outdoors at her home in Jefferson County.
She will be sadly missed by her husband Joseph McGaffic whom she married on June 8, 2001.
She also leaves two granddaughters Kelsey and Kenzie Chistlieb, and two step sons, Wayne and Donald McGaffic.
She was preceded in death by her only daughter Dawn Lynn Christlieb, and a step father James Mullarkey.
Friends will be received one hour prior to her funeral service that will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 111 W. Falls Street, with the Rev. Chris Weichman of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church officiating.
Interment will take place next to her parents in Oakpark Cemetery.
