Nancy Zubak Stanford DePuy, 78, of West Middlesex, passed away on August 31, 2026, at UPMC Jameson Hospital, New Castle, Pennsylvania.
Nancy was born on November 8, 1947, at her family home in Clarksville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Thomas and Victoria (Sadar) Zubak. She graduated from Jefferson-Morgan High School in 1965 and graduated from California State College in 1967 with a B.S., later earning a master's degree in education.
Nancy taught in the Central Greene, Sharpsville, and Hermitage school districts. After 40 years in education, she retired from teaching but continued to substitute teach and work with the Hermitage Summer Academy for another 11 years.
Nancy met her first husband, Charles Stanford, while attending California State College. She later married her wonderful husband, Joseph DePuy, a veteran, and they shared 42 years of marriage. Together, they enjoyed traveling, attending concerts, and spending time together. Nancy was also a devoted fan of General Hospital, watching the show for 60 years. She was of the Catholic faith.
Nancy was a member of PSEA, the Monday Night Bowling League, and West Middlesex VFW Post 6233. She enjoyed coaching her children's softball and Little League teams, participating in community theater with her children, and serving as an assistant Girl Scout leader. Nancy loved gardening, planting flowers around her home and pool, and decorating a tree for nearly every holiday.
Nancy's greatest joy was attending the activities and events of her children and grandchildren. Her family extended far beyond her immediate family to include many students, former students, and others whose lives she touched and with whom she remained in contact over the years. She also welcomed and supported foreign exchange students, creating lasting connections that became part of her extended family.
Nancy leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Joseph DePuy; her children, Heather Fry, Chaz Stanford (Jessica Allison), Bryce Stanford, and Kayla Lopez (Marc); her grandchildren, Hunter and Cayde Davidson, Abi Hooper (Jake), Lucia Rakoci (Liam), Logan Stanford, and Roman and Reginald Lopez; her great-grandchild, Hollin Hooper; her sister, Bonita Tomcheck; and her mother-in-law, Betty DePuy. She is also survived by her loving extended Stanford and DePuy families, including many nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law who were an important part of her life.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Victoria, Patricia, and Thomas, all of whom died in infancy; her son-in-law, Dan Fry; her sister-in-law, Ann Marie Pacenza; her brother-in-law, Andrew DePuy; her former husband, Charles Stanford; and her brother- and sister-in-law, Jim and Rebecca Desmond.
