March 1, 1956 – August 11, 2024
Nancy Buchanan, 68, of Hermitage, passed away following a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday evening, August 11, 2024, in her home.
Mrs. Buchanan was born on March 1, 1956, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Dmytro and Sophia (Pietnik) Namisnyk. She was a 1974 graduate of Hickory High School.
Nancy was employed for nearly 20 years at Miller Industries, Hermitage, where she was a production controller.
A devout Christian, Nancy was a member of Family Life Church, Hermitage, where she was a greeter. She read and studied her bible and prayed for others daily. Nancy was also a former Sunday School Teacher.
She enjoyed working in her yard and planting flowers, all to take in the beauty of her labor while sitting on her back deck, looking at her pond and waterfall. Nancy also liked to travel, ride motorcycles and go shopping. Above all, she cherished her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, David Joe Buchanan, whom she married on September 8, 1979; her son, David Michael Buchanan and his wife Mary, Jamestown, PA; five precious grandchildren, Isaac, Penelope, Riley, Hazel and Levi. Also surviving are two sisters, Debra Hamilton and her husband David, Hermitage, and Betty Gealy and her husband Larry, Transfer; and a brother, Roman Namisnyk and his wife Dollie, Sharon.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Joan Zaremba; and a brother-in-law, Paul Buchanan.
The family would like to thank Deborah, Laurie and Laura of Helping Hands Hospice, for the exceptional care given to Nancy during her time with Hospice.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Helping Hands Hospice, 480 N. Kerrwood Dr., STE 103, Hermitage, PA 16148.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday (08/16/2024) and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday (08/17/2024) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, in the funeral home, with Rev. Chris Massey and Rev. Bill Rudge, co-officiating.
Interment: Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage.
