Muriel M. Russell of Hermitage, formerly of Sharon, passed away at 3:31 p.m. Friday (1-13-17) in UPMC Horizon Hospital, Farrell. She was 74.
Ms. Russell was born July 15, 1942, in Sharon, a daughter of Neil and Betty Russel Russell.
She was a lifelong area resident and 1962 graduate of Sharon High School. Upon graduation, she enrolled in painting and drawing courses at the former art institute in Youngstown, OH.
Muriel was employed by Ideal Bakery, Farrell, where she worked as a sales clerk, and also worked in the same capacity at Plaza Donuts, Hermitage.
In later years, she worked as a lens grinder for Bietler McKee Optical, Sharon.
Muriel was of the Christian faith.
She enjoyed painting, drawing, playing bingo and watching television, particularly the soap opera, Days of Our Lives.
Muriel was an animal lover and adored the dogs she cared for throughout the years.
Surviving are: her brother, Ken Russell and his wife Delores, Farrell; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Muriel was preceded in death by her parents.
Calling hours will be 5 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday (1-17-17) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Funeral service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel.
Interment: America's Cemetery, Hermitage.
