Obituary

Mildred "Aunt Mimi" Zipay, Sharon, went home to be with her Lord at 12:05 a.m. Friday (10-25-13) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 92. She was born Jan. 24, 1921, in Sharon, a daughter and one of six children born to John and Mary Muha Zachar. A lifelong city resident, she graduated from Sharon High School. For more than 40 years she worked in the office at the former Sharon Transformer Division of the Westinghouse Electric Corp. She was a faithful, lifetime and active member of Sts. Peter and Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sharon, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and served as president of the Altar Guild. She is survived by a sister, Anne Zachar, Sharon; two brothers, John Zachar, Sharon; and Edward Zachar and his wife Mildred, Niles, Ohio; and several loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, John; and a brother, Joseph Zachar and his wife Irene. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in her name to please consider Sts. Peter and Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church 699 Stambaugh Ave., Sharon, 16146. Calling hours: 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday (10-27-13) and 10 to 10:30 a.m. Monday (10-28-13) in J. BRADLEY McGONIGLE FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY, 1090 E. State St. Sharon. A procession will leave for the church at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday in Sts. Peter and Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jeffrey M. Harter, pastor, officiating. Internment: With her husband in Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.
