Mildred Salance, 94, of Hermitage passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family Sunday morning, June 2, 2024, following a brief illness.

Mildred was born May 29, 1930, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Petro and Julia (Pelesh) Dobrovolski and graduated from Sharon High School in 1948.

Prior to the birth of her children, she had worked at Westinghouse in Sharon, and later in life worked for a variety of local retailers.

Mildred was a social member of the Hickory VFW where she enjoyed playing bar bingo. She also loved spending time with family, working crossword puzzles, and watching the game show network.

Mildred was of the Russian Orthodox faith.

On May 29, 1954, she married Michael G. Salance, and he preceded her in death on November 16, 1992, following 38 years of marriage.

Mildred is survived by six children, Mildred M. "Milly" Salance and Michaeline "Micky" Hetrick (David), all of Hermitage, Andrew Salance, Sharpsville, Karen McGhee (Steven), Gallipolis, OH, Bonnie Moore, Greenville, and Paula Salance, Hermitage; her eight grandchildren, Shawn Hetrick (Leesha), Michael A. Salance, Amanda Miller (Drew), Jessica McGhee (fiancé, Jaime Martinez), Lorand Salance, Allison McGhee, Kaylee Moore, and Ryan Moore; two great-grandchildren, Madelyn Salance and Steven Martinez; and one step-great-granddaughter, Sidney Miller.

Besides her parents and husband, Mildred was preceded in death by her seven sisters, Anna Benic, Mary Spondike, Rose Banick, Julia Yanak, Helen Scott, Eva Saniski, and Pauline Gibson; three brothers, Michael, Peter, and Andrew Dobrovolski; and a son-in-law, Jack Moore.

Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday (6-6-24) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
