Mildred Raketich, 2481 Mercer-West Middlesex Rd., Shenango Township, passed away of natural causes at 3:48 p.m. Saturday (7-17-10) in the emergency room of Grove City Medical Center. She was 87.
Mrs. Raketich was born March 14, 1923 in Midland, PA the eldest child of the late Adam and Effie Unum Pradovich.
She was a 1941 alumna of the former Midland High School.
A homemaker, Millie was an active member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, Hermitage. She was a member of the Voislav Ilich Serbian Orthodox Choir; the Circle of Serbian Sisters St. Petka; the Serb National Federation Lodge, # 68; and the Farrell Chapter # 156 Order of the Eastern Star, where she was an honorary Past Matron.
Surviving are: her husband, Louis 'Lazo' Raketich, whom she married May 17, 1953 in the former St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, Farrell; a daughter, Smilja Raketich, Laveen, AZ; three sons, Jovan Raketich, Tempe, AZ; Peter Raketich and his wife Donna Lou, Chandler, AZ; and Mark Raketich, at home.
Besides her parents, Millie was preceded in death by a sister, Emily Zivkovich; and three brothers: Paul, Dan and Milan Pradovich.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 65 S. Keel Ridge Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday (7-20-10) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon. Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. A Pomen service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
