Michael Anthony Zajac, 304 Lincoln Ave., Farrell, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning (8-20-11) in his home. He was 43.
Mr. Zajac was born February 2, 1968 in Nuremberg, Germany a son of Anthony M. and Judy A. Marks Zajac.
He was a 1986 graduate of Farrell High School, where he was a standout volleyball player, and matriculated to East Stroudsburg (PA) University.
Michael was a cook for many local restaurants and also managed the Olive Garden in Niles, Ohio and The Country Kitchen in Elyria, Ohio.
He enjoyed sports and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Michael was a Christian and loved his family dearly. He was very kindhearted and will be sadly missed by all those who knew him.
Surviving are: two sons whom he adored, Jordon M. Zajac, a student at Slippery Rock University; and Joseph A. Zajac, a sophomore at Sharon High School; his mother, Judy, at home; his father, Tony and his wife Linda, Boardman, Ohio; a sister, Renee Zajac and her son Justin Michael Zajac, both Abington, PA; the mother of his two sons, Michelle Rogers and her husband David, Sharon; and aunts and uncles, Lois 'Aunt Lala' Mattozzi and her husband Angelo, Farrell; and Annette Potkanowicz and her husband Joseph, Poland, Ohio.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph and Becky Marks; and Jack and Vickey Zajac; and an uncle, Ralph Marks.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society; or to a fund for his children, through the funeral home.
Calling hours will be from 5-8 p.m. today (8-22-11) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
