Mr. Simons was born May 1, 1955, in Greenville, a son of Roy Raymond and Rosemary Bronder Simons. He graduated from Greenville High School.

Michael was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp.  He served during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Sergeant.

Michael loved all animals, especially dogs.  He enjoyed gardening, fishing, home improvement, sitting around a camp fire, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by one daughter, Amanda Long and her husband Quankeko, Midway, Georgia; a son, Corey R. Simons and his companion Kala Croskey, Sharon; four sisters, Dianne Simons, New Castle; Dr. Lynn Simons and her husband John Scalise, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan; Beth Linamen and her husband Thomas, Greenville; and Wendy Semple, Tennessee; and five grandchildren, Noah Simons, and Collins, Ayden, Saria and Liam Long.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents.
