Obituary

Michael Kurelko, Hermitage, passed away unexpectedly at 8:20 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2012, in UPMC Horizon Hospital, Farrell. He was 83.

Mr. Kurelko was born August 12, 1928 in Sharon, a son of Michael and Dorothy Kapurik Kurelko.

Michael left high school to enlist in the United States Army where later he received his GED. Mr. Kurelko was a Korean and Vietnam War Veteran and retired as a Master Sergeant after 25 years of service to his country. Following retirement from the military, Michael went to work for Ben Bissett Chevrolet in Mercer as a parts manager for 20 years.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon. Michael was also a member of the Sharon Knights of Columbus Council 684, Hickory VFW Post 6166, and the Sharon Carpo-Russian Club. He enjoyed golf, fishing and bowling on various leagues in the area, including the Sunday Night Hickory Bowling League.

His wife, Marjorie Adams Kurelko, whom he married May 13, 1952, passed away on November 13,2007.

Surviving are: 2 daughters,Cheryl Graham of Hermitage and Debra J. Kuharick of Columbus, OH; a son, Raymond Kurelko of Hermitage;3 sisters, Dorothy Kaufman, Anna Marie Palik, and Marie Bacon all of Sharon, PA;2 brothers, Steve Kurelko of West Middlesex, PA and John Paul Kurelko of Sharpsville;7 grandchildren, Raymond Graham, Deanna Russo, Lorie Bradshelhammer, Kelly Kuharik, Katie Laverty, Amber Kurelko, and Kayla Kurelko;4 great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Michael was preceded in death by a son, Michael Kurelko; a brother, Edward Kurelko.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph's Church, 79 Case Ave., Sharon,PA 16146.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 8,2012,in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory,Inc.,1090 E. State St., Sharon.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 9, 2012, in the funeral home, with the Msgr. Casimir Bogniak, senior associate pastor of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon, as celebrant.

Internment will be in St. Rose Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars West Middlesex Post 6233 and the Wheatland American Legion Post 432.
