Michael J. Kreitzer, 85, of New Castle passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, March 16, 2019, in UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Mr. Kreitzer was born April 28, 1933, in New Castle, the son of Florentine Michael and Catherine (Howard) Kreitzer. He attended school in New Springfield, OH, returning to New Castle as a young man.

Beginning in 1968, Michael owned and operated Krietzer Building and Remodeling, and much of his work can still be seen throughout the area to this day.

He had a passion for genealogy and completed a great deal of research into his family's ancestry. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

His beloved wife of 65 years, the former Patricia Taylor, whom he married September 20, 1953, survives at home. Also surviving are four daughters, Cindy Kreitzer, of Rochester, PA, Bonnie (Norb) Mong, of New Castle, Lisa (Bob) Barber, of Mt. Jackson, and Lyndora (Anthony) Conti, of New Castle; seven sons, Mike (Doris) Kreitzer, of Wampum, Dan (Carol) Kreitzer, of Kissimmee, FL, Tim (Joyce) Kreitzer and Fred (Sherrie) Kreitzer, all of New Castle, Dave (Kelly) Kreitzer, of Portersville, and Eric (Carrie) Kreitzer and Doug (Amy) Kreitzer, all of New Castle; three sisters, Margaret Taylor and Eloise Roberts, of New Castle, and Lynda Annarumo, of Ellwood City; 45 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by three sisters, Kathleen Stroble, Dolores DePetro and Mary Ann Cummins; and an infant grandson.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (3-20-19) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.

Funeral service will be held privately.

Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Neshannock Twp.
