Merton Richard Thousand of 379 Meek St. Sharon, PA, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 8:15 p.m. at UPMC Horizon, Farrell, PA. He was 43.

Mr. Thousand was born in Rochester, NY on July 16, 1966, a son of the late Merton and Carol page Thousand.

He was a graduate of Hilton High School in Rochester, NY.

Merton was a meet cutter all of his life. He was currently employed at D'Onofrio Food Center and previously worked at Wegman's Food Market.

Mr. Thousand enjoyed watching the Washington Redskin's and the New York Yankee's. He liked to play video games and hunting, but most of all he loved his son Noah. He was a great father, brother, and uncle. He had a heart of gold.

He is survived by, a son, Noah Hayden Thousand; 7 siblings, June Thousand of Rochester, NY, Laurie Thousand of Rochester, NY, Carol An Beehler of Kendall, NY, Penny Thousand Hakeem of Wilkes-Barre, PA, Sandra Ann Thousand of Transfer, PA, Charles Thousand of Transfer, PA, and Zachary Thousand of Sharon, PA; He is also survived by his companion, Sarah Evans; 2 step-daughters, Serena and Kristina Kustelega; and his dog, Blue; He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Thousand was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charles Thousand; a brother, Steven Thousand.

To respect Merton's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the First Baptist Church, 60 Shenango St. Greenville, PA 16125 with Rev. David Cox.
