Obituary
Melissa Jane Gibbs of New Castle, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 9:02 p.m. in Allegheny General Hospital. She was 52.
Mrs. Gibbs was born in New Castle, PA on August 28, 1958, a daughter of Ray and Nancy Morrow Davis.
She was raised by her loving grandparents Clyde and Bertha Morrow. She was a 1976 graduate of New Castle High School. Following high school, Melissa enrolled in numerous college courses and then graduated from the Vocational and Technical School with her certification as a Licensed Pratical Nurse.
Melissa was employed at Sharon Regional Health Systems as a Licensed Practical Nurse for the past 9 years.
Mrs. Gibbs was an active member of the Hoover Heights Christian Missionary Alliance Church. She was involved in the church choir and active with the youth programs in the church. Recently she became a Deaconess which she was very proud of. Melissa found enjoyment in fishing and watching NASCAR, but most importantly she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by, her husband Gregory Gibbs Sr., whom she married July 11, 1998. 4 children, Travis Kerr of West Palm Beach, FL, Brett Kerr, Kelsey Kerr, and Lexus Gibbs all of New Castle; 3 step children, Marlene Regan, Renee Gibbs, and Gregory Gibbs Jr. all of New Castle; a step brother, William and his wife Marilyn Bunnell of New Castle; 3 grandsons and 5 granddaughters.
Besides her parents and grandparents, Melissa was preceded in death by a step daughter, Crystal Gibbs; a step brother, Thomas Bunnell.
The family will receive friends a half hour prior to the service on Monday, May 23, 2011 in the Hoover Heights Missionary Alliance Church.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hoover Heights Missionary Alliance Church, 1947 Morris St. New Castle, PA 16102with the Rev. Larry Llewellyn.
Arrangements are entrusted to the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 111 W. Falls St. New Castle, PA 16101.
