Mary Amelia Tyillian, 92, of Hermitage passed away Sunday morning, March 23, 2025, in UPMC Jameson Hospital, New Castle.
Mrs. Tyillian was born November 20, 1932, in Petroleum, OH (Masury), a daughter of John and Dorothy (Ruffing) Meier. A 1950 graduate of Hubbard High School, she completed the Registered Nursing program through Sharon General Hospital School of Nursing in 1953.
For more than 40 years, Mary worked as a Registered Nurse at Sharon General Hospital. She began her career in the nursery and also worked in the psychiatric department, retiring in 1993.
Mary was a founding member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, where she assisted in the kitchen with the funeral ministry.
An avid flower gardener, she enjoyed riding her bike during her younger years and traveling to the beach with her husband, George. Above all else, Mary loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
Her husband, George Tyillian, whom she married June 4, 1955, preceded her in death January 11, 2009.
Mary is survived by a daughter, Sue Piccirilli (Mike), Hermitage; three sons, Gregory Tyillian, Largo, FL, Timothy Tyillian (Julie), West Middlesex, and Gerard Tyillian (Melissa), Hermitage; a sister, Arlene Bieda, Youngstown, OH; eight grandchildren, Jon Tyillian (Ricardo Simmons), Amy Baj (Adam), Andy Piccirilli, Daniel Tyillian (Abby), Stephen Tyillian (fiancé, Kaitlyn Beck), Chandler Tyillian (fiancé, Jamie Thompson) and Chloe Tyillian, and a brother-in-law, Kerney Tyillian.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas Tyillian; her loving grandson, Chase Tyillian; a son, Martin Tyillian; a sister, Dorothy Horan; and a son-in-law, Scott Thompson.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday (3-27-25) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:15 p.m. Friday (3-28-25) in the Church of Notre Dame, 2325 Highland Rd., Hermitage, with Rev. John Miller, as celebrant.
Entombment: St. Rose Mausoleum, Hermitage.
