Mary Louise Stedman, 302 S. Main St., Butler, PA passed away at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday (11-16-10) in White-Cliff Nursing Home, Greenville. She was 89.
Mrs. Stedman was born July 19, 1921 in Corry, PA a daughter of the late Joseph Paul and Myrtle Austin Maloney.
She was an alumna of Corry Area (PA) High School and began working at the Aero Supply Co. in Corry following her graduation. Mrs. Stedman retired in the mid 1980's from Marmon/Keystone Corporation in Butler after more than ten years of employment. She previously worked as a bookkeeper for Nicholas Enterprises, also Butler, for ten years and in prior years at the Alliance College, Cambridge Springs, PA.
Mary was a very gifted artist and a member of the Associated Artists in Butler. She taught art in her home for many years and displayed her works at a number of exhibits and shows. Her artwork consisted mainly of portraits and landscapes and has been sold throughout the country.
Her husband, Richard H. Stedman, Jr., whom she married Oct. 17, 1942, passed away Jan. 14, 2005.
Surviving are: two daughters, Bonnie Zemcik and her husband Joe, Fordland, MO; and Gail A. Moore, Reynolds; five grandchildren, Danny and Julie Zemcik; Christopher Thetford; and Walter and Richard Moore; six great grandchildren, Jacinda, Harrison, Sebastian, Kendra, Walter and Alexia; and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Sutton, Corry, PA.
Besides her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Sutton; and a son-in-law, Walter Moore.
