Obituary

A funeral service will be held on Saturday for Mary Jane Sas of Coolidge Drive, Hermitage, Pa. who passed away peacefully at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday (1-5-11) in the Intensive Care Unit of Sharon Regional Health System with her family at her side. She was 91.

Mary Jane was born on August 19, 1919 in Sharon the daughter of Samuel and Michaelina Depascale Nicastro.

She attended Sharon Schools and was a lifelong area resident.

Mary was a long time member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Sharon.

A homemaker, she loved to bake and cook her favorite recipes and her kitchen was always a gathering place for family and friends.

Her husband Martin 'Mike' Sas whom she married on November 26, 1938, passed away on October 31, 2000.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry L. Hether and her husband John, West Middlesex, Pa., her son Martin S. Sas and his wife Kate, Fayetteville, Ga., her six grandsons, Martin, Brian, Timothy and Ryan Sas, and Johnny and Jeffrey Hether, six great grandsons, Jake, Niko, Chandler, Parker, Tyler, and Carter Sas, a brother Albert Nicastro, and her golden retriever buddy named Sampson, who she dearly loved.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol A. Sas, her great grandson, Spencer Sas, two sisters, Rosalie Frisco, and Serena Franks, three brothers, Samuel, William, and Edward Nicastro.

Her family suggest that any memorial contributions being made in her memory be given to St. John's Episcopal Church, 226 W. State St. Sharon, Pa. 16146

Calling hours: 6 to 9 p.m. Friday (1-7-11)in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon.

Service: Burial Office and Requiem Eucharist will begin at 12 noon on Saturday (1-8-11) in St. John's Episcopal Church with Rev. Douglas K. Dayton, former rector of the Church as the celebrant.

Interment: St. Anthony's Cemetery, Hermitage.
