Obituary

Mary R. Prezgay, 87, of Hermitage, joined her husband with the Lord on Saturday, December 5, 2020, in Sharon Regional Medical Center, due to complications from Covid-19.

Mrs. Prezgay was born October 29, 1933, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Arthur and Rose (Manilla) Ragosta, Sr. She was a 1951 graduate of Sharon High School.

Mary was employed at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. and later, for the Packard Electric Company, Warren, OH. She retired following several years of employment at the Social Security Administration, Hermitage.

Mary was an active member of St. Anthony's Church, Sharon, where she served on the church council and as a lector. She also assisted with numerous bake sales and fish dinners at the church.

She also volunteered in the library at the former St. Joseph's Parochial Grade School and at Joshua's Haven City Mission, Farrell and attended it's weekly bible studies.

She was a member of the American Business Women's Association, Hermitage; the American Legion, Post #299, Sharon; and was a lifetime member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, Ladies Auxiliary, Post #5286, Farrell.

In her younger years, Mary bowled in leagues and more recently enjoyed golfing and played bocce at the Farrell VFW. She also looked forward to her monthly card club with friends and weekly gatherings to play cards with her Prezgay-in-laws. Mary also enjoyed playing bingo, reading, cross stitching and crocheting.

Her husband, Michael J. Prezgay, whom she married October 4, 1952, in St. Joseph's Church, Sharon, passed away June 4, 2019.

She is survived by three daughters, Pamela Evakich, of Sharon, Mary Ellmann and her husband Jeffrey, N.C., and Janice Logan and her husband Jack, of Hermitage; a son, Michael J. Prezgay, Jr., of Mississippi; five grandchildren who were the delight of her life, Michelle Fritch, Heather Ramsey, Chris Ellmann and Allison and Danielle Logan. Also surviving are: a brother, Arthur Ragosta, Jr., of Hermitage; a sister-in-law, Millie Ragosta, of Bellefonte, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by a brother, Vincent Ragosta.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to either St. Anthony's Church, 804 Idaho St., Sharon, PA 16146; or Joshua's Haven, 1230 Stambaugh Ave., Sharon, PA 16146.

In keeping with Mary's wishes there are no calling hours.

Funeral services are private.

Interment: Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Hermitage.
