Mary Pop

Dedicated, Kindhearted Mother

and Grandmother

Mary Pop, 92, of Hermitage, unexpectedly passed away of natural causes Thursday (2-4-16) afternoon in her home.

She was born December 6, 1923, in Cresson, Pa., to John Misko and Julia Lesko Misko.  On May 26, 1951, she married Andrew Pop, who preceded her in death on February 20, 1974.

Mary attended school in Cresson and after relocating to Mercer County, worked at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.

Lovingly known by her nickname, Snuffy, Mary devoted her life to caring for her family.  She played a significant role in raising her grandson and was an exceptional cook and homemaker.

She leaves her daughter, Lisa Palanski, and her husband Edward, Sharon; a grandson, Brad Palanski, a PhD candidate at Stanford University, Stanford, California; and a sister, Anna Weller Lesko, Hermitage.

Also surviving are two step-grandchildren, Dr. Michael Palanski, his wife, Megan, and their children, Cate, Cora, Maryn and Eddie, Fairport, New York; and Alexa Thompson, her husband, Ronald, and their daughter, Kenadie, Hermitage, Pa.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Leo, "Big" John, George, Michael and "Little" John Misko and two sisters, Julia Yelverton and Helen Misko.
