Mary Frances Pearce, 459 Boyd Dr., Sharon passed away peacefully of natural causes at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday (5-4-10) in Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage. She was 86.
She was born on February 19, 1924 in Sharon, Pa the daughter of Peter J. and Mary Kuhner Whalen.
A lifelong area resident, she was a 1942 graduate of Sharon High School.
She worked as a switchboard operator for the Pennsylvania State University, Shenango Valley Campus for 11 years and retired in 1997. She was also an officer at Sharon Stationary and Supply Inc. in downtown Sharon for 24 years.
Mrs. Pearce was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon.
In her early years, she was active in both Girl Scouting and Cub Scouting and was a member and Past President of the St. Joseph School Parent Teacher Association.
She was a former member of the Sharon Quota Club.
She is survived by her husband, John A. "Jack" Pearce whom she married on June 25, 1945.
Also surviving are her three sons, Jack A. Pearce and his wife Susan of Wayne, Pa; Michael W. Pearce and his wife Sandra, Dallas, TX; and Thomas H. Pearce, Tempe, AZ; six grandchildren, David Pearce, Mark Pearce, Joshua Pearce and his wife Jen, Solomon Pearce and his wife Erica, Mary Rachael Austin and her husband David, and Elijah Pearce; three great grandchildren, Emily, Fiona, and Sebastian Pearce; her two sisters, Emelia A. Kennehan and her husband William H., Youngstown, OH; and Phyllis J. Nelson, Sharpsville, PA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen W. Linder, and a brother Robert M. Whalen.

Services: Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday (5-10-10) with Rev. J. Thomas Dugan, senior associate of St. Joseph's Church as the celebrant. The family request that anyone attending her Mass go directly to the church on Monday morning.
Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage.
