Mary Patricia Bell

Mary Patricia “Patty” Bell, 80, of West Middlesex, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, January 17, 2026, in the Lakes at Jefferson, Jefferson Twp.

Mrs. Bell was born June 2, 1945, in Youngstown, OH, a daughter of the late James and Mary Rita (Hitchcock) Durkin. A 1963 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, OH, she later earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Youngstown University.

Prior to becoming a homemaker, Patty taught at Taft Elementary School in Youngstown. She later became a loving caregiver for many of her friends’ and family members' children.

Patty was an active member of Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex, where she taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) for many years.

An avid gardener and reader, she loved chocolate and playing cards with friends. Patty was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She adored her six grandchildren and passionately followed their many successes as well as those of the many children she cared for throughout her life.

Her beloved husband of 56 years, John N. Bell, whom she married November 29, 1969, survives at home.

Patty is also survived by a son, Christopher J. Bell (Vanessa), Transfer, PA; a daughter, Janine M. Moore (Randy), West Middlesex; a sister, Carol A. Johnson (Ed), Boardman, OH; six grandchildren, Piper, Nicholas, Keeley, Crystal, Christian, and Ryan; and three great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Orion, and Aubrey.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday (1-22-26) in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 3613 Sharon Rd., West Middlesex. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McGonigleFuneralHomeandCrematory.com.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at noon Thursday, in the church, with Rev. Frank DiCristina, as celebrant.
