Mary Pandza, formerly of Farrell, passed away at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday (11-24-10). She was 93.
Mary was born October 10, 1917 in Farrell a daughter of Peter and Bozica Tarabic Pandza.
She resided in Farrell until a few years ago and was a 1935 alumna of Farrell High School. Mary graduated from beauty school in Youngstown, Ohio and began her career at the former Brake Beauty School in Sharon. She subsequently opened her own shop in her home where she worked for 56 years, retiring in 1993.
Mary was a member of the Croatian-American Civic Club, Farrell, and was treasurer of its Ladies Auxiliary for 43 years. She was also a 75 year member of the Croatian Fraternal Union, Lodge # 26, Farrell. Mary was a fan of the Farrell Steelers boy's basketball team and was a season ticket holder for more than 50 years. She loved reading, theatre, watching sports on television and was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Surviving are: two nieces, Marie Churko, Hermitage, and Beverly Churko, Brookfield, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Tillie Pandza, Farrell. Also surviving are great nieces, Robyn Churko and her children Nicholas and Jimmie, Hermitage; Marcie Coolidge and her husband Michael and their daughter Tatum, Chicago, IL; Joy Lane and her husband Jeffrey, Erie, PA; and Jan Nichols and her husband Raymond and their two daughters, Nicole and Kara Gustafson, Farrell; and a great nephew, Matthew Lane and his wife Becky and their two daughters, Lydia and Nora, Erie. Mary greatly enjoyed spending time with her many nieces, nephews and friends and she will be missed dearly by all of them.
Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Churko; a brother, John Pandza; and two nephews, Anthony and Robert Churko.

Private funeral service will be Saturday (11-27-10) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon, with Rev. Daniel Kresinski, pastor of St. Anthony's Church, Sharon, officiating.
Interment: Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
