IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Lou
Nogay
June 1, 1955 – October 1, 2022
Mary Lou Nogay, 67, of Hermitage, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 1, 2022, in Sharon Regional Medical Center.
Mary Lou was born June 1, 1955, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Matthew and Irene (Bialorucki) Fill. She was a 1973 graduate of Sharpsville High School and earned an associate degree in business/accounting from Youngstown State University in 1981.
Prior to starting a family, she worked in the human resources department of Commercial Shearing, Youngstown, where she met her longtime friend and "sister," Maureen Maritch and her husband Bob. Later, Mary Lou was the deposit support research supervisor for First National Bank, working out of the Data Center in Hermitage.
Mary Lou was a devoted member of the former St. Adalbert's Catholic Church, Farrell, where she taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) for many years. She and her husband also volunteered to make pierogi for the church and recently assisted at St. Bartholomew's Church, Sharpsville, once their church closed.
Family always came first. Mary Lou cherished spending time with them and babysitting her granddaughters following her retirement. It was important for her to share and pass on her Polish Heritage traditions. When her daughters were in school, she was active in PTO and was a local Girl Scout Leader.
Mary Lou was also an avid reader and enjoyed cross-stitch, sewing, and other crafting, ensuring she made her girls' Halloween costumes. Along with crafting, she loved cooking and baking. She always made sure to create specialty birthday cakes for her girls, until they were older, where she would make theirs and her husband's favorites every year.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Ted Nogay, whom she married on May 26, 1984; three daughters, Sarah Brennan and her husband Matthew, Kent, OH, Maria Schrock and her husband Wayne, Irwin, PA, and Olivia Nogay, Gibsonia, PA; and two grandchildren, Audrey and Amelia Brennan, who affectionately referred to Mary Lou as "Bubbie." Also surviving are two brothers, Richard Fill and his wife Arleen, Buffalo, NY, and Leonard Fill and his wife Kristy, Canfield, OH; her mother-in-law, Helen (Ritter) Nogay, Hermitage; an uncle, Lawrence "Whitey" Schweiss ; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Ted Nogay, Sr.; and a sister-in-law, Theresa Funelli.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to either the Alzheimer's Association, at www.alz.org , in memory of her father; or the American Heart Association, at www.heart.org , in memory of her mother.
The family would also like to extend a sincere thank you to the Elite EMS and McGonigle Ambulance teams, the Hermitage Police Department, and members of Sharon Regional Hospital for all of their assistance.
