Mary Jean Mitcheltree, S. Pymatuning Township, passed away at 11:40 p.m., Saturday, July 4, 2015, in Ellwood City Hospital, after a brief illness. She was 85. Mrs. Mitcheltree was born April 9, 1930 in Mercer, the only child of Byron and Viola Buchanon Magner. She moved to Sharon in 1940 where she was raised and attended school. Mary was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, making hard tac candy and spending time with her family. Her husband, James Mitcheltree, Jr., whom she married in 1974, passed away in January of 1999. Surviving are: two daughters, Tina Bender and her husband Gary, with whom she made her home; and Nicole Dias and her husband Shawn, Sharpsville; four sons, Gerald Porter, West Middlesex; Kenneth Brannon and his wife Kathy; Byron Brannon and his wife Sharon, Hermitage; and Geof Mitcheltree and his wife Jillian, Philippi, WV; and ten grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren whom she adored. Besides her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Charles Porter and Robert Brannon, Jr.; and two grandsons, Joshua Bender and Keith Brannon. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001. Calling hours will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2015, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon. Private funeral service will be held.
