Obituary

Mary Frances "Molly" Merritt, 72, of Hermitage, formerly of Sharon and Farrell, passed away Saturday evening, September 28, 2024 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.

Ms. Merritt was born September 23, 1952, in Sharon, a daughter of the late William and June (Dickman) Merritt. She was a 1970 graduate of Farrell High School and attended Bauder Fashion College, Miami, FL. She later attended Cheena's Beauty Academy, Hermitage.

Molly was an Army Veteran who proudly served her country.

Throughout her career as a beautician, she had the opportunity to work for several salons in the Shenango Valley.

A devout Catholic, Molly was a member of St. Ann Church, Farrell, St. Joseph Church, Sharon and the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage. She spent much time in prayer and prayed the Rosary daily.

Molly had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. She also loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, watching classic movies and enjoyed playing cards.

Molly is survived by a daughter, June Marie Merritt; a sister, Patricia June Iovino and her husband, Ronald, Hermitage; three grandchildren, Molly Rachelle Tatta, Niles, OH, Michael Allan Tatta, II, and Max William Tatta, both of Hermitage; a great-grandchild, Luka James Hopson; a son-in-law, Michael Tatta, Hermitage; a sister-in-law, Pat Merritt, West Middlesex; nephews, Nicholas Iovino, Chris Merritt and his wife, Kelly, Billy Merritt and his wife, Lindsay; and many beloved cousins.

In addition to her parents, Molly was preceded in death by a brother, William "Duke" Merritt.

The Merritt family would like to thank Helen Walker for being a great friend and support to Molly throughout the years.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 8,2024, in St. Joseph Church, Sharon, with Rev. James Power, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment: St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Hermitage
