Mary Elizabeth Manilla

Mary Elizabeth Manilla, 95, of Sharon, passed away Tuesday morning, September 22, 2026, in St. John XXIII Home, Hermitage.

Mrs. Manilla was born on October 12, 1930, in Farrell, a daughter of the late Giuseppe and Assunta (Raimondi) Lombardo. She was a 1948 graduate of Farrell High School.

Prior to marriage and children, she worked at the former Gus Paul Construction Co.

She married her husband, Bernard A. “Ben” Manilla, on February 5, 1955. He passed away on June 8, 2002. Together, they loved to travel, visiting many casinos and attending horse races. They owned and operated B&M Coins and Bennie’s Comics and Sports Card Shop, both in downtown Sharon.

Later, Mary worked as a teacher’s aide for the Sharon School District.

Mary was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Sharon, where she was active in the ladies guild. She also volunteered at the Prince of Peace and the Mercer County Board of Elections, overseeing the North Sharon Poll. Additionally, she was a member of the North Sharon Ladies Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Anita Blank and her husband, Bruce, of Gaithersburg, MD, and Nadine Cyphert and her husband, Randy, of Clarion, PA; two sons, Bernard A. Manilla and his wife Lana, of Concord, OH, and Richard L. Manilla and his wife Annette, of Hermitage; 13 grandchildren, Trevor, Natalie (Alex), Katie (Justin), Melissa (Andrew), Wayne (Tara), Gus (Margaux), Ben (Claire), Ricky (Hannah), Joey (Natalie), Francesca (Cody), Erin (Ben), Jake (Liza), and Andrew (Evyn); 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous God children.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine “Peppy” Mastrian (Pat), and Rose Latsko (Tom); three brothers, Norman Lombardo (Angie), and William “Bill” and Albert “Cookie” Lombardo.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to St. Joseph’s Church, 79 Case Ave., Sharon, PA 16146.

Calling hours will be 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday (09/26/2026) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, in St. Joseph’s Church, Sharon, with Rev. Glenn Whitman, as celebrant.

Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
