Obituary

Mary L. Guenther, formerly of Whispering Oaks in Hermitage, passed away at 6:55 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at John XXIII Home, Hermitage.
Mary was born September 2, 1913 in Kawkawlin, MI, a daughter of the late George and Esther Kaczmarek Guenther.
She was a 1931 graduate of Central High School and a 1936 graduate of the former Northeastern School of Commerce both in Bay City, MI
Mary worked for the state of Michigan in Lancing, before moving to Washington DC in 1939. She was employed by the Veterans Administration in Washington DC at various levels as a secretary and analyst for 20 years. She then worked for the Import Export Bank which is a branch of the Government as an analyst for 23 years and she retired on February 9, 1980.
Mary was a life long practicing Catholic and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas in Washington DC. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoyed traveling, investing, and spending time with her friends in Washington DC.
Surviving are: 4 nieces, Patricia R. Allen of Hermitage, PA, Barbara A. Berry of Rolling Meadows, IL, Susan M. Sikorski and her husband Leo of Sun City West, AZ and Lynne M. Gillen of Redford, MI; a nephew, Jeffrey Gillen and his wife Beth of Livonia, MI; and several great nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by, 1 brother and 2 sisters.
Family suggests memorial contributions to John XXIII Home 2250 Shenango Valley Freeway, Hermitage, PA 16148.
Calling Hours: Friends may call one hour prior to the mass on Tuesday in John XXIII Home in Hermitage.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2009 in John XXIII Home with the Rev. Richard Allen, a great nephew as celebrant.
