Mary Agnes Glenn, 86, of New Castle passed away Saturday morning May 7, 2016 in UPMC Jameson. Mrs. Glenn was born on Christmas Day in 1929, the daughter of the late Francis William and Agnes Daugherty Frey.
A lifelong area resident, she graduated from New Castle High School in 1947. Although a homemaker for many years, Mary Agnes was previously employed by the Johnson Bronze company as a clerk. She then worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance in the same capacity until her retirement.
Mary Agnes was a member of St. Mary's Church, Mary Mother of Hope Parish.
Her hobbies include bowling, playing cards with friends and spending time outside gardening and planting flowers. She loved her family, and most especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Mary Agnes married Jake Glenn on August 14, 1965 and he preceded her in death on August 24, 1981.
She is survived by: a daughter, Karen Swope and her husband, Chris, of New Castle; a son, Jim Glenn of Palatine, IL; two brothers, Bill Frey and his wife, Kay; and Ed Frey. Also surviving are her three grandchildren, Jacob, Jason and Julianne Swope.
Calling hours will be from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday (5-10-2016) and on Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 111 W. Falls St. A procession will leave the funeral home Wednesday (5-11-16) at 11:30 a.m. for St. Mary's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon by Rev. Bill Siple. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
