Mary Ellen Foltz, of Sharon, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025.

Born in Sharon, PA, she was the daughter of Elmer and Mary (McKenzie) Swogger. Mary Ellen and her husband Richard Jacob Foltz were lifelong residents of the area-aside from six years spent in San Diego. Mary Ellen was deeply committed to her community and her faith. Richard preceded her in death on April 8, 2010.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Shirley Sankey; her brother, Evan G. Swogger; and her brother-in-law, William Sankey.

Mary Ellen is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Lou Foltz; a son, Richard Jeffrey Foltz and his wife, Marcee D. Foltz; two granddaughters, Lauren (Harry) Foltz-Peltz, and Katherine (James) Duncan; two great-grandchildren, Caspian and Hudson Peltz; her sister-in-law, Carole Swogger; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life, Mary Ellen dedicated herself to service and volunteerism. She was a proud member of the Buhl Day Committee for over 27 years and was honored as a Buhl Day Honoree for her contributions. She also gave 15 years of service managing the books at the Sharon Regional Health System lobby shop and was an active member of the hospital auxiliary.

Mary Ellen was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church in Sharon, where she served faithfully in many roles, including on the Session and Board of Deacons, as well as Presbyterian Women. She was also a board member of the Shenango Valley Interfaith Council, supporting interfaith cooperation and community support efforts across the region.

Mary Ellen will be remembered for her steady presence, quiet generosity, and deep commitment to the people and places she loved.
Her family would like to thank the staff at the Ridgewood at the Shenango Valley and Gentiva Hospice for their incredibly loving care of Mary Ellen.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to either Buhl Park, 715 Hazen Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148; or First Presbyterian Church, 600 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146.

All services will be held privately.
