Mary E. Farrar, 88, of 407 Miller Ave., New Castle, PA passed away Thursday (11-19-09) in her home following a brief illness.
Mary was born on July 8, 1921 in Unionville (Butler County), PA a daughter of the late Austin Clair and Minnie Fair Thompson. Her mother passed away when she was young and Mary devoted her life to her family.
Surviving is a son, Hamilton Lee Farrar, New Castle; two daughters, Debra A. Farrar, New Castle; and Marian S. Kenney and her husband Edward; two grandchildren, Mary Olivia Kenney and Evan Hamilton Kenney, all Jupiter, Florida; four sisters, Viletta Gardner, Butler, PA; Nellie Morgan, Mount Jackson, PA; Edna Balcko, Grove City, PA; and Zelda Toland and her husband Larry, Ellwood City, PA; and two brothers and their spouses, Donald Thompson and his wife Dorothy, Harrisville, PA; and Raymond Thompson and his wife Doris, Pensacola, FL.

Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday (11-23-09) in the funeral home with the Rev. Grace Basham, chaplain of Jameson Hospital, officiating. Interment: Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mt. Chestnut, PA
Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Hamilton V. Farrar, on January 7, 2003. They were married January 20, 1950. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Alice and Reatha Thompson; and two brothers, Harry Lew and Willis Thompson.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Jameson Friends of Hospice.
