IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Ann
Coccia
April 6, 1921 – March 2, 2025
Mary Ann Coccia, of Sharon, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday morning, March 2, 2025, in her home. She was 103.
Mrs. Coccia was born April 6, 1921, in Ford City, PA, a daughter of the late Emil and Barbara (Vozarikova) Kahat, and graduated from Ford City High School in 1939.
In addition to being a homemaker, Mary also worked several part-time jobs in Sharon, most notably at Tony's Pizza on Stambaugh Ave. for more than 30 years.
A devout Catholic, Mary was a longtime member of St. Joseph Church in Sharon, and received communion from Pope John Paul II while he visited the U.S.
Mary was the matriarch of her family, always putting the needs of her children and grandchildren before her own. She loved tending to her flower garden, and later in life, delegating those duties to her children while they enjoyed time together on her front porch – where she sat every night.
Her husband of 30 years, Pasquale "Patsy" Coccia, preceded her in death on May 8, 1971.
Mary is survived by seven children, Allen Coccia, of Sharon, Barbara Petro, of Pompano Beach, FL, Christine Owen (Monk), of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Colleen Dimario (Mark), of Sharon, David Coccia (Debbie), of Rock Hill, SC, Patrick Coccia, of Sharon, and Jackie Perna (Bob), of Hinsdale, IL; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Albert, and Steve Kahat; and three sisters, Joan, Millie, and infant Rozitta.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, online at: https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html; or to Buhl Park, 715 Hazen Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.
