Obituary

Mary M. Baum, 7208 Pine Grove Dr., Hubbard, Ohio; formerly of 590 Tamplin St., Sharon, passed away at 4:25 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2012, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 67.

Mrs. Baum was born February 13, 1945 in Sharon a daughter of Felix V. and Josephine Masters Palermo.

She was a 1963 graduate of Sharon High School and attended the School of Nursing at the former Sharon General Hospital.

Prior to her marriage, she was employed as a nurse's aid at the hospital. A homemaker, Mary was a lifelong member of Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon. She was a dedicated mother and was extremely devoted to her children. Among many other things, she served as a homeroom mother and with the PTA when her children were school aged. She also loved to cook and was an avid reader.

Surviving are: her husband at home, Roger L. Baum, whom she married April 11, 1964; two daughters, Felicia J. Stehley and her husband Dale A. Stehley, III, Bellefonte, PA; and Mary Jo Baum-McConnell and her husband Oscar T. McConnell, Cresson, PA; two sons, Gary B. Baum and his wife Kelly, Sharon; and Christopher D. Baum and his wife Heather, Hermitage; six grandchildren, Kayla, Ciara, Joshua, Mackenzie, Kylie and Kendall. She also leaves a sister, Frances A. Eirich, Sharon; her mother-in-law, Mary Sweitzer, Masury, Ohio; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Charise Palermo, Sharon; Janice and Larry Clegg, North Jackson, Ohio; Ron Baum, Liberty, Ohio; Edwin and Tracey Baum, Sharon; and Richard and Rhonda Baum, Brookfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by two brothers, Mark P. Palermo and John D. Palermo; and a brother-in-law, Carl Eirich.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sharon Regional Hospice and Palliative Care 2320 Highland Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.

Calling hours will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012 in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, in Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon, with Rev. Henry Andrae, pastor, as celebrant.
