Mary Alice Bailey, 466 S. Mercer Ave., Sharpsville, passed away at 9:56 p.m. Thursday (7/12/12) in the Center for Compassionate Care, Pittsburgh. She was 80.
Mrs. Bailey was born February 9, 1932 in Livermore, KY a daughter of Bennie and Thelma Presson Whitaker. She attended school in Kentucky.
A homemaker, she was a member of Sharon Baptist Church, Hermitage. Mary enjoyed crafting, sewing, making porcelain dolls, flower gardening and loved to watch the hummingbirds. She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Her husband, William E. Bailey, whom she married December 11, 1959, survives at home. Also surviving are five daughters, Vicki C. Lenzi, Hermitage, Laura Susan Rager and her husband Howard, Sharon; Barbara K. Yavorsky, Hermitage; Dee Dee James, Sharpsville; and Paula G. Cross and her husband John, Warren, OH; a grandson whom she raised, Christopher W. Kaska, South Haven, MS; two sisters, Jane Rieves, Colorado Springs, CO; and Patricia Hubbard and her husband Chester, New Albany, IN; ten grandchildren; and numerous great and great great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Mary is preceded in death by a grandson, Richard Allen Goheen; and three sons-in-law, Rev. Robert Lenzi, William Yavorsky and Jack James.
The family suggests memorial contribution may be made to Sharon Baptist Church, 1531 George St. Ext.; or Family Hospice and Palliative Care, 1965 Shenango Valley Freeway, both Hermitage, PA 16148.
