Mary Alice (Vallely) Callahan, Sharpsville, formerly of West Middlesex, passed away peacefully at 6:30 a.m. Sunday (10-9-11) at her daughter's residence following an extended battle with Alzheimer's. She was 77.
Mary Alice was born September 18th 1934 in New Castle the daughter of Frank and Helena Lehman Vallely.
A lifelong area resident,she was a 1952 graduate of New Castle High School. She was a long timemember of Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex. Mary Alice was happiest spending time with her family, her children were the light of her life. She cherished her 18 grandchildren who will miss her dearly. We were so blessed to have such a loving, caring, and devoted mother and grandmother.
Her beloved husband Patrick J. Callahan Jr. whom she married on October 15, 1955, passed away on October 21, 1996, she was the devoted mother of Ginny Pallatino, Level Green, Pa., Tim Callahan and his wife Terri, Pulaski, Pa., Shawn Callahan and Lisa, Sharpsville, Pa., Rick Callahan and his wife Vicki, Severna Park, Md., Colleen Pickens and her husband Jack, Pulaski, Pa., Kevin Callahan and his wife Wendy, Sharpsville, Pa., Maureen Herrmann and her husband P.J. Sharpsville, Pa., and Michael Callahan and his wife Denise, Pulaski, Pa. She was the Loving sister of Lynn Vallely and his wife Mary, Tunnel Hill, Ga. She was the cherished grandmother of Danny, Chelsea, Brandon, Jennifer, Kelly, Tyler, Brianna, Nevaeh, Shane, Derek, Kayla, Gavin, Paul, Patrick, Christian, Zac, Madison, and Maranda; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers James, Eugene, and Francis 'Beau' Vallely, and two sisters Agnes 'Dolly' Benedict, and Nancy Huff, and an infant granddaughter Alicia Callahan.
Our family extends our deepest gratitude to Mom's devoted caregivers and the Hospice staff from Sharon Regional Hospital.

Services: Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday (10-12-11) at 11:00 a.m. in Church of the Good Shepherd with Rev. Robert M. Malene, pastor as the celebrant. The family asks that everyone go directly to the church.
Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
