Martin P. McGonigle, 67, of Neshannock Twp., passed away with family at his side early Tuesday morning, October 27, 2026, following an extended illness.

Mr. McGonigle was born March 25, 1959, in New Castle, the last of seven sons of the late Joseph Bradley and Margaret (Hogue) McGonigle. He held fond memories of growing up on Beaver St. in New Castle, where he attended St. Mary’s Parochial Grade School, enjoyed swimming at the YMCA, and delivered newspapers throughout his neighborhood. He relocated with his family to Neshannock Twp. at the start of his sophomore year, later graduated from Neshannock High School in 1977, and attended Slippery Rock University.

From a young age, Marty embraced the same calling as his grandfather, father, and older brothers, joining them at J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., in New Castle, where he served the community with honesty, compassion, and kindness for 40 years.

Marty was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Church, now the Holy Spirit Parish of New Castle, where he had served on Parish Council, Finance Council, and actively volunteered at parish events and fundraisers. He was also a member and past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council 512, and a member and past Faithful Navigator of the Villa Maria 4th Degree Assembly.

His passion for serving the community was reflected by his membership in the New Castle Lions Club and his service on the boards of directors of the Salvation Army of New Castle and the Lawrence County Blind Association, where he also served as past president.

A man with a heart as big as his love for others, he was genuine in all he did and cherished his family above all else. Marty enjoyed bowling, playing golf, and above all, spending time with friends and family while boating and water-skiing at Conneaut Lake.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, the former Kathleen R. O’Connor, whom he married in St. Mary’s Church on June 4, 1983.

Marty is also survived by a daughter, Katie Qualey, and her husband, Ethan, of Rochester, NH; a son, Martin P. McGonigle, II, and his wife, Rikki, of Neshannock Twp.; two grandchildren, Killian J. and Margaret A. Qualey; a sister-in-law, Helen McGonigle, of Conneaut Lake, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom he held very dear to his heart.

In addition to his parents, Marty was preceded in death by six brothers, infant Richard McGonigle, James McGonigle, Shawn McGonigle, David McGonigle, Hal McGonigle (Mary Lou), and J. Bradley McGonigle (Mary Ellen).

The family suggests memorial donations be directed to Meals on Wheels Lawrence County, P.O. Box 5122, New Castle, PA 16105; or the Prince of Peace Center, 502 Darr Ave., Farrell, PA 16121.

Calling hours will be 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday (10-30-26) at J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Saturday (10-31-26) for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Spirit Parish - St. Mary’s Church, 124 N. Beaver St., New Castle, with Rev. Glenn R. Whitman, presiding.

Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Union Twp.
