Martha L. Simons, 85, of Sharpsville, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, in Cortland (OH) Healthcare Center.

Mrs. Simons was born on November 29, 1939, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Earl L. and Thelma (Stoyer) Swartz. She attended the former Union Elementary School in South Pymatuning Twp., and was a 1957 graduate of Sharpsville High School.

For more than 25 years, she owned and operated Martha's Sewing Shop, Sharpsville, retiring in 2002. Additionally, she worked for Dr. Harry Elston. Following her retirement as a seamstress, she was employed at the Creative Pre-School and Toddler Room Day Care, also in Sharpsville.
Martha was of the Christian faith.

She was a member of the Sharpsville Historical Society and taught knitting for several years.

Her husband, Joseph J. Simons, whom she married on June 15, 1962, passed away on December 3, 2008.

She is survived by two daughters, Leah R. Merritt and her husband, Mark, of Cortland, Amy J. Simons-Shawkey and her husband, Robert, of Hadley, PA; four grandchildren, Maya A. and Rayna L. Brooks, and Kent D. and Kyle S. Traylor; and a brother, Timothy E. Swartz and his wife, Jyh Mei Lui, of Colorado Springs, CO.

In addition to her parents and husband, Martha was preceded in death by a daughter, Jenine C. Simons; and a sister, Luanne Jessup.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
