Obituary

Martha Rose (Santell) Poprocky, formerly of Bon Air Dr., Sharon, passed away peacefully of natural causes at noon Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, in John XXIII Home, Hermitage, where she was a resident for the past three years. She was 90.

Mrs. Poprocky was born May 6, 1921 in Farrell a daughter of the late Nick and Mary Gizzarelli Santell.

She was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Farrell High School.

A homemaker, she was a member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon, and a former member of its Women's Guild. Martha was an accomplished quilter and enjoyed needlework, crafts and gardening. She was a member of the former Girls Buhl Club, Sharon, and the Monday afternoon Quilting Club.

Her husband, Steve P. Poprocky, whom she married in February of 1946, passed away in April of 2004.

Surviving are: a daughter, Linda A. Poprocky, Alexandria, VA; two sons, Steven P. Poprocky, Cheswick, PA; and Raymond M. Poprocky and his wife Tess, Sharpsville; and two grandchildren, Benjamin and Zachary Poprocky. She also leaves two sisters, Delores Sandy, Niles, Ohio; and Gloria Dutzer, Dexter, MI; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Martha was preceded in death by two sisters, Carm Palermo and Clara Vaglia; and two brothers, Norbert and Alfred Santell.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County 109 S. Sharpsville Ave., Suite A, Sharon, PA 16146.

Calling hours will be from 5-8 p.m. today, January 13, 2012, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Mass of Christian burial will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012, in St. Joseph Church, Sharon, with the Rev. Glenn R. Whitman, pastor, as celebrant. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church.

Interment: St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Hermitage.
