Martha V. "Val" Diefenderfer, 64, of Hermitage passed away early Thursday morning, July 25, 2024, in UPMC Jameson Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Val was born November 25, 1959, in New Kensington, PA, a daughter of the late Alden and Martha V. (Gibbon) Scott, and graduated from Kiski High School in 1978.

Most recently, Val had been working as a prep cook at the Clark House and had previously worked in housekeeping for many years.

She was of the Christian faith.

A wild, kind, and fun spirit, Val loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed being outdoors riding motorcycles, sitting around campires, and hanging out with her beloved dog, Cosmo.

Val lived life her own way and had a great time doing it.

Her husband of nearly 14 years, Kevin Diefenderfer, whom she married September 25, 2010, survives at their home in Hermitage.
Val is also survived by a daughter, Nicole White (Ed), West Middlesex; a son, Tim Bracken (Nikki), Clark, PA; two sisters, Patty Matson, Leechburg, PA, and Lucy Blanciak, Vandergrift, PA; a brother, Bubba Scott (Helen), also Vandergrift, PA; and four grandchildren, Jordan and Lucas White, and Emily and Logan Bracken.

In addition to her parents, Val was preceded in death by her first husband, Tim Bracken; a sister-in-law, Judy Means; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Means and Kieth Diefenderfer.

Calling hours will be 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday (7-28-24) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday (7-29-24) in the funeral home.

Interment: Neshannock Presbyterian Cemetery, Pulaski, PA.
