Obituary

Marlene L. Rupp of S. Pymatuning Township passed away at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2016, in her residence, after an extended illness. She was 80.

Mrs. Rupp was born August 17, 1936, in Wheatland, a daughter of William Scott and Marcella (Morgan) Powell.

She was raised in Wheatland and was a 1954 graduate of Farrell High School.

Marlene worked out of her home as a tax preparer for more than 40 years.

She was a lifelong member of the Wheatland-Farrell United Methodist Church; and the American Legion Auxiliary, Post #432, also Wheatland.

Marlene enjoyed playing small games of chance and spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Kirk K. Rupp, Sr., whom she married June 23, 1956, passed away March 30, 2001.

Surviving are: a son, Bruce A. Rupp, Franklin, PA; a daughter-in-law, Carla Rupp, S. Pymatuning Township; three grandchildren, Bruce Holmes, Kirk Rupp, III and Kyle Rupp; two great grandchildren, King and Aria; three brothers, Richard Powell, Wheatland; Frank Powell and his wife Judy, West Middlesex; and Raymond Baker, Sharon; a step-sister, Maryanne Watson and her husband JC, Oklahoma; a step-brother, Kenneth Baker, Sharon; and several loving nieces and nephews, including Brenda Campbell and her husband Jeff who were Marlene's caregivers.

Besides her husband, Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Harold Baker; a son, Kirk K. Rupp, Jr.; a brother, William Powell; and a grandson, Christopher Rupp.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, c/o Duke Hospital Medical Center, Box 3624, Durham, NC 27710.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2016, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2016, in the funeral home, with Rev. C. Charles Eckles, pastor of IHS Ministries, Hermitage, officiating.

Interment: Haywood Cemetery, West Middlesex.
