IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marlene
Roach
July 21, 1941 – May 11, 2017
Marlene Ann (Totin) Roach of Hermitage passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, May 11, 2017, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Youngstown, of head injuries sustained during a tragic accident at her home two days prior. She was 75.
Marlene was born July 21, 1941, in Ernest, Pa, the second of four children to George and Martha Brody Totin. She moved with her family to Sharon in 1943 and remained a lifelong resident of the Shenango Valley.
Marlene was a member of Farrell high School's great Class of 1960.
She married William Roach of Wheatland on June 25, 1966, and they made their home in Wheatland, until moving to Hermitage in 1978. Marlene and Bill were parents of three children, two daughters and a son who survive her.
She was employed by the former Packard Electric Corp., Warren, from 1964 until 1970 when she left to raise her family.
Always of paramount importance to Marlene were her family and home. She loved to bake and was always in demand during the holidays and special occasions for her wonderful clothespin cookies, her marvelous nut rolls and other baked goods.
She devoted herself to creating a wonderful home environment for her husband and children. She loved to decorate both the interior and exterior of her home, especially during the holidays. Marlene was passionate about keeping her home neat and spotless, earning the loving nickname "MarCLEAN." She loved to spend time with family and friends. For nearly 30 years, the highlight of the Christmas season was the extended family gatherings on Christmas Eve that Marlene and Bill hosted.
She enjoyed listening to music, reading, working crossword puzzles and following current affairs.
The light of Marlene's life was her two granddaughters, to whom she lovingly devoted much of her time and energy as they grew.
Unselfish, is the term that best described Marlene. When needed, she was always there for her family and friends in their times of need.
Marlene was a lifelong member of St. John's Orthodox Church, Hermitage, formerly Sharon, where she was an active member of the Mother and Daughters Club for many years. She was also very active in the St. John's PTO during her children's school years.
Marlene is survived by her loving husband, Bill; her three children, Kelly Hellmann and her husband Tom, Hermitage; Jennifer Roach and her fiancé Eddie Baker, Ocean City, MD; and her son, David Roach and wife Kristine, Boston, MA; as well as her two granddaughters, Alana and Livia Hellmann.
Surviving siblings are a younger sister, Julie Totin, Sharpsville; and her younger brother, G.Daniel Totin and his wife Jo Ann, Cortland, OH. Also surviving, are five beloved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
