Obituary

Marlene Kay Pizzo-Cano, 59, of Bessemer passed away Sunday evening, June 30, 2024, in UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Marlene was born January 19, 1965, in Steubenville, OH, a daughter of the late James and LaRue (Simmons) Pizzo.

She worked as a toll booth operator in Harris County Toll Road Authority, Houston, TX, for over 25 years.

Marlene knew the Lord and was of the Christian faith.

She had a lifelong affinity towards cats and rescued many throughout her life, most recently Emo, Jynx, and Max. Marlene also enjoyed Star Wars, gaming, and reading comics, especially Marvel's X-Men.

Marlene's love and kindness touched many lives and made an incredible impact on those who knew her. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by three sisters, her twin, Marcilene Pizzo Telfah (Sohail), Houston, TX; Valerie Fey, with whom she made her home in Bessemer, and Teresa McGowan, Philadelphia, PA; two nieces, Huda Telfah and Amanda Baker (Jerry); four nephews, Adam and Abdel-Rahman Telfah, Dale T. Fey (Mara), and Nathaniel J. Owney; and several great-nieces and great-nephews; a lifelong best friend, Michelle Prince, who she loved as a sister, and her children, Brook Breaux and Glenn Lea, and her granddaughter, Brookelynn. Marlene is also survived by her former partner, Edmundo Cano.

In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and James Pizzo.

Marlene was lovingly greeted by her beloved cat, "Toothless," on the Rainbow Bridge.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A celebration of Marlene's life will be announced at a later date.
