Mark Vincent Taylor of Hermitage passed away unexpectedly of natural causes
Sunday
morning (1-24-16) in his residence. He was 52.
Mr. Taylor was born June 26, 1963, in Sharon, a son of John "Jack" and Mary Rose (Ference) Taylor.
He was a 1981 graduate of Kennedy Christian High School, Hermitage, and earned his bachelor's degree in Computer Technology from Youngstown State University in 1985.
Mark participated in the Reserve Officers Training Corps. (ROTC) program for four years while attending YSU and was a commissioned 2
nd
Lieutenant upon graduation. He then served with the US Army Airborne Division for two years, achieving the rank as Captain, and four years with the Pendel-Caminiti Army Reserve Base in Farrell. He often commented that there was no bigger thrill than jumping out of a plane.
Mark had a successful career in the Information Technology Industry for more than thirty years and was currently employed as a project manager for Management Science Associates (MSA) in Pittsburgh.
A devout Catholic, he was a member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, and Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, Farrell.
Throughout his life, Mark was passionate in his undertakings. He excelled in music during high school, playing the alto saxophone, and earned First Chair in Districts, Regional, Jazz and Honor's band.
He also studied at the Dana School of Music in Youngstown and was a bagpiper in the Grove City Highlander Band. He was capable of playing most instruments and passed his love of music on to his children.
Mark's family and their well being were his utmost concern. Although his work required him to travel extensively, he never missed any of his children's scholastic or athletic events. His role as a father was extremely important to him and was evident in the many activities he was involved in.
He coached his sons in basketball for 4 years at the YMCA and another four years with the Kennedy Catholic Family of Schools, all in Hermitage. He also coached his daughter in the Mercer County girls' fast-pitch softball league where he was an officer and assisted the KCHS girls' softball team.
Mark was an avid supporter of the Kennedy Catholic High School boy's basketball team, where his son is a member of the team and his brother-in-law is head coach.
He was a fan of The Ohio State Buckeye's and the Cleveland Browns and also enjoyed golfing, history, fishing and hunting with his dad and going to the family camp in Tionesta. Mark was very proud of his family and loved them dearly.
May the Choirs of Angels receive him and may he have rest and peace everlasting.
Surviving is his loving wife, the former Janet L. Mancino, whom he married April 16, 1994, in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell; a daughter, Emilee G. Taylor, a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh; two sons, Benjamin M. Taylor, a sophomore at Kennedy Catholic High School; and Nathaniel M. Taylor, an 8
th
grader at Kennedy Catholic Middle School; his father and mother, Jack and Mary Rose Taylor, Hermitage; three sisters, Carol L. Roscoe and her husband Alan, Vienna, Ohio; Aimee S. Zrile, West Middlesex; and Catherine M. Gracenin and her husband Daniel, Hermitage; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and brothers- and sisters-in-law.
