Mark L. Szugye, 71, of Hermitage passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, February 14, 2025.

Mr. Szugye was born August 26, 1953, in Sharon, a son of the late Louis and Mary (Karidis) Szugye, and was a 1971 graduate of Kennedy Christian High School in Hermitage.

For many years, Mark worked for the City of Hermitage as part of the Street Dept, retiring in 2019. He was currently working as a shuttle driver for Mercer Co. Regional Council of Governments (R.C.O.G.).

Mark was an active member of Orangeville Baptist Church and served as a volunteer firefighter for the City of Hermitage for over 25 years.

He always looked forward to time with family and vacations at the beach.

His wife of 25 years, Deborah (Biro) Szugye, whom he married in September of 2000, survives at home.

Mark is also survived by his son, Kevin Szugye, Frederick, MD; two grandchildren, Abigail and William Szugye; his step-daughter, Jessica Knapp, Bartonville, IL; three sisters, Patti Fill and her husband, Dr. David, Hermitage, Rosemary Parameter and her husband, Jim, Charlotte, NC, and Tina Bianco and her husband, Bill, Hermitage; a brother, Michael Szugye and his wife, B.J., Macedonia, OH; 10 nieces and nephews, and 26 great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday (2-22-25) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

A memorial service will immediately follow at 1 p.m., in the funeral home, with Rev. Harley Williams, officiating.
