Mark J. Panin, Sr., 62, of Hermitage, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Mark was born March 29, 1959, in Sharon, a son of the late Eli and Elizabeth "Betty" (Kalli) Panin. A graduate of Hickory High School, he honorably served in the U.S. Airforce, where he was stationed in the Philippines.
Mark was a longtime employee at the former Medal in downtown Sharon, and worked various jobs following its closing.
A selfless man, he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Mark was a member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage.
His wife, the former Jane E. Black, whom he married February 10, 1982, passed away September 11, 2019.
He is survived by his daughter, Jacquelyn E. Panin, of Hermitage; a son in law, Bryan Black, of Hermitage; three grandchildren, Bryanna, Brayden and Jackson Black; and two sisters, Betty Hornak, of Anaheim, CA, and Jean Kittle and her husband Gary, of Warren, OH.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mark was preceded in death by a son, Mark J. Panin, Jr.; and a brother, David Panin.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Arc of Mercer County, 850 N. Hermitage Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.
Calling hours will be 1 p.m. until the time of the service, Thursday (09/16/2021) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Thursday, in the funeral home, with the Very Rev. Richard Allen, E.V., officiating.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.
