IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mark
Farmartino
January 24, 1958 – June 18, 2021
Mark Farmartino, 63, of Farrell, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 18, 2021, in his home.
Mark was born January 24, 1958, a son of the late Rocky A. and Ascension "T.I." (Campos) Farmartino, Sr. A lifelong resident of Farrell, he attended Kennedy Catholic High School and was a 1976 graduate of Farrell High School. He also attended the University of Pittsburgh.
Upon leaving college, Mark was employed by Penn Dot and later worked, in his favorite job, as a teacher's aid at John Hetra Child Dev Center, Farrell. Throughout the majority of his career, he worked in local steel mills.
Mark was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell. He was a member of the Italian Home Club, Farrell, and a founding member of the Black Cats Society.
Mark was a sports fan, especially basketball and boxing. In his son's younger years, he coached him on the Notre Dame Youth Basketball Team. He had a passion for sports, movies, trivia, and most of all, music. His greatest passion in life was for people especially, his wife, children, family, and friends.
One of his greatest gifts was to make everyone feel special, as if they were the only person in the room. He will be remembered as the life of the party and for his ability to captivate an entire room with a great story, his funny one liners, or his sage advice. When the family asked for words to describe him one word came up continuously, a legend.
He is survived by his wife, the former Lorie Wilson, whom he married June 1, 1985, in Our Lady of Fatima Church; a daughter, whom he served as a consigliere to, Christina Farmartino, of Pittsburgh; a son, Rocky Farmartino, of Farrell; two sisters, Tina Antonucci and her husband Mark, and Jamie Piccolino and her husband Joseph, all of Oakmont, PA; his mother-in-law Jean Wilson; brothers-in-law John Wilson and his wife Lisa, and James Wilson Jr.; sister-in-law Jule Farmartino; many nieces and nephews, whom he adored; his beloved dog, Franco; his best friend and last remaining "brother" Keith "Demo" DeMartinis; and many friends, who were his family, as well as friends of his doting children, who lovingly referred to him as "Papa Farmar."
In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis and Rocky Farmartino, Jr.; a nephew, Michael Antonucci; and his father-in-law James Wilson Sr. He was preceded in death by many people, whom he considered to be family as well.
The family kindly requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be directed to either, Prince of Peace, 502 Darr Ave., Farrell, PA 16121; or Prevention Point Pittsburgh, 460 Melwood Ave., #205, Pittsburgh, PA 15213, or www.PPPGH.org
Per Mark's wishes, there are no calling hours, only a life to be celebrated.
Mass of Christian burial will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 23rd in Our Lady of Fatima, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, with Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, pastor, as celebrant.
